Avec Dennis Fila, docteur en géographie humaine et post-doctorant à la chaire Géographe for Global Change à l'Université de Fribourg, pour une intervention intitulée 'Rethinking local climate change adaptation: Reflexive capacity and the transdisciplinary co-production of knowledge'.

How can local adaptation processes move beyond established routines and standardised solutions? This presentation examines the role of reflexive capacity – the collective ability to recognise, challenge and transform the institutional practices and power relations that shape climate change adaptation. Drawing on research in small and medium-sized German municipalities, it further explores how knowledge is produced and negotiated among researchers, public administrations and local stakeholders within a transdisciplinary research project. The presentation highlights both the potential of participatory knowledge production to strengthen local adaptation and the institutional tensions that can limit whose knowledge is recognised and translated into action.

Dennis Fila's research focuses on climate change adaptation, heat resilience, and urban-rural transformation, with particular attention to institutions, power, participation, and justice. His work combines qualitative and transdisciplinary approaches with close collaboration with municipalities, regional and state-level actors, and planning practitioners.
